The J5/6 age group is for boys and girls in years 5 and 6. There are separate competitions for boys and girls and a number of grades in each catering different levels of hockey.
Year 5/6 teams play on Saturday mornings anywhere between 8-11.30am. Games could be played anywhere in the Perth metro area. Every second week should be a home game played at Warwick Hockey Centre. As soon as Hockey WA notify the club of game dates and times, players will be also be notified. This usually occurs later in the pre-season.
Training nights are Monday and Wednesday at Warwick Hockey Centre and some training will take place on our turf (training nights may change at coaches’ discretion).
- WHC Grading Day: The club’s grading day will be held in March (date TBC) at the Warwick Hockey Centre turf. All 5/6 players are required to attend as this important event is used by the club to; (1) place players into teams, and (2) to assess the development needs of the players. More details to follow.
- 5/6 Grading Carnival: Held at either Alderbury Reserve or Yokine Reserve at the beginning of May. This is an all-day event where all the WHC 5/6 teams play against other clubs in a carnival format. This carnival is used by Hockey WA to place teams of similar ability into pools of around eight teams for the duration of the winter competition. Further details of this event will be made available to all 5/6 players and parents as soon as it is received from Hockey WA.
- Carnivals: Throughout the season the players will have the opportunity to play in various Carnivals. Again these are optional and may attract a separate fee.
