Whitford Hockey Club is proud to announce the appointment of Trent Mitton as Head Coach of the Men’s Program, bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the role.

Mitton joins us from his boyhood club, WASP HC, where he has spent his entire career amassing over 250 appearances and maintaining an impressive strike rate of nearly a goal per game.

Mitton is one of Australia’s most accomplished hockey players. As a former Kookaburra, he represented Australia at the highest level, including:

•    181 international caps for Australia scoring 82 goals
•    Olympic Games: Tokyo 2021 – Silver Medal
•    Commonwealth Games: Gold Medal 2010, 2014 & 2018
•    World Cup: Bronze Medal 2018
•    Champions Trophy: Gold Medal 2012, 2016 & 2018
•    Oceania Cup: Gold Medal 2013, 2015 & 2017
•    FIH Pro League: Gold Medal 2019

As well as playing for WASP HC in Australia, Mitton also played for:
•    Perth Thundersticks 2009 – 2023 – Champion 2009 & 2011
•    Ranchi Rays in the Hockey India League – Champion 2015
•    Amsterdam HC in the Dutch National League

Following his distinguished playing career, Trent transitioned into coaching, where he has continued to make an impact. His coaching achievements include:
•    Head Coach role with WASP HC for the past 3 years
•    Assistant Coach roles with elite development squads in Western Australia
•    Mentoring emerging talent through Hockey WA Programs
•    Proven success in building competitive teams and fostering player growth
